DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0
The Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 is the last of DJI's classic Phantoms, the big white quadcopter that doesn't fold. DJI released it quietly in May 2018 as an update to the 2016 Phantom 4 Pro. The camera stayed the same, a 1-inch, 20 MP sensor with a mechanical shutter, and the changes were underneath. It moved to DJI's OcuSync link and got improved ESCs and low-noise 9455S propellers, which DJI says make it 4 dB quieter. Production stopped over a parts shortage in late 2018 and restarted in January 2020. Government users kept buying it, and the FBI ordered 19 in 2021. DJI never made a Phantom 5, and the Mavic 3 Pro took its place.

Remote IDBuilt-in Remote ID
DJI added US Remote ID in aircraft firmware v01.00.70.17 in November 2023, and the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 is on the FAA's Remote ID Declaration of Compliance list. One that never got the update won't broadcast. At 1,375 g it must be registered with the FAA however you fly it.
Account lock
DJI's account binding and unbinding guide covers DJI Fly drones and doesn't list the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0, and we found no documented account lock for it. Ask the seller to include the remote it's linked to.
Controller
The Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 came with a remote (GL300L) that holds your phone or tablet, and the Pro+ V2.0 with one (GL300K) that has a bright 5.5-inch screen and DJI GO 4 built in. DJI also lists it as compatible with the DJI Smart Controller. The original Phantom 4 Pro's remotes use DJI's older Lightbridge link, so check the remote is a V2.0 one.
App and firmware
DJI GO 4. DJI still lists it for download (iOS from the App Store, Android as an APK from DJI's site), and the Remote ID firmware needs GO 4 v4.3.60 or later, or DJI says the aircraft can't be used.
Should come with it
The V2.0 remote (GL300L) or the Pro+ V2.0 screen remote (GL300K)
Spare Intelligent Flight Batteries
The battery charger and power cable
The gimbal clamp and carrying case
Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing piece should come off the price.
What to check
Firmware is the catch. DJI's Remote ID update needs DJI GO 4 v4.3.60 or later, and DJI warns not to install it if you fly mapping missions with GS Pro, or the aircraft can't be used. Batteries discharge themselves after 10 idle days, and DJI says storing one fully flat can damage its cells for good.
01V2.0 or original: Check the listing and the photos for V2.0 on the drone, box or remote. The original Phantom 4 Pro uses a different Lightbridge remote.
02Remote: Check which remote is in the photos. A phone-holder remote is the Pro V2.0, and one with a built-in screen is the Pro+ V2.0.
03Firmware: Ask the seller which aircraft firmware it's on. v01.00.70.17 or later has US Remote ID built in.
04Mapping apps: Ask whether it's been flown with GS Pro. If you need GS Pro, DJI says not to install the Remote ID firmware, so plan for that.
05Batteries: Ask for a screenshot of DJI GO 4's battery menu, which shows the warning history. No warnings is what you want.
06Swelling: Look at each battery from the side in the photos. It should sit flat, since DJI says never to use a swollen, leaky or damaged battery.
07Camera: Zoom in on the lens in the photos and look for the gimbal clamp in the kit. Clean glass and the clamp are good signs.
08Crash history: Ask whether it's ever crashed, and check the legs, arms and shell in the photos. You want a plain no and no cracks.
We'd buy the Pro+ V2.0 with its 5.5-inch screen remote from a big dealer's used trade-in stock at $931 delivered, under the $1,076 median of the $925 to $1,650 band. There are at least 39 for sale, US kits with a remote ask about $850 to $1,200 delivered, and Japan dealers ask up to $1,723 once their shipping is added. It flies on DJI GO 4, has built-in US Remote ID only on aircraft firmware v01.00.70.17 or later, and at 1,375 g must be registered with the FAA however you fly it. Check for V2.0 on the drone, box or remote, since the original Phantom 4 Pro uses an older Lightbridge remote, ask for the remote it's linked to (DJI documents no account lock for it), and ask for GO 4's battery warning history and side photos of the packs. Skip the CP.PT.00000244.01 title copied across three accounts at $1,900 to $2,000, the 83.3% seller and the $2,999 refurb.
