DJI announced the Mavic 2 Pro and the Mavic 2 Zoom together in August 2018, and the two differ mainly in the camera. The Pro's is a 1-inch, 20 MP unit developed with Hasselblad, the Swedish camera maker DJI partnered with in 2015 and took a majority stake in during 2019. It has a real adjustable aperture from f/2.8 to f/11 and records 10-bit Dlog-M video. The Mavic 2 also brought OcuSync 2.0, sensors on every side and 8 GB of storage built in. It flies on DJI GO 4, the older app, and it still got firmware in November 2023, when DJI added US Remote ID. A Mavic 2 Pro on that update needs no add-on module.

Should come with it
Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing piece should come off the price.
Firmware is the catch. DJI's Remote ID update needs DJI GO 4 v4.3.60 or later, and DJI warns not to install it if you fly with the GS Pro mapping app, or the aircraft can't be used. Batteries discharge themselves after 10 idle days, and DJI says storing one fully flat can damage its cells for good.
New to used drones? How to check a used drone covers batteries, gimbals and crash damage, and Remote ID and registration explains what the FAA expects once it’s yours.
Buying guide
We'd buy the Fly More Combo with four batteries and an Apache 3800 case at $604 delivered, under the $650 median of the $490 to $800 band. There are at least 127 for sale, aircraft sold without a controller or battery ask about $340 to $520, and kits with the DJI Smart Controller start at $650. It flies on DJI GO 4, not DJI Fly, has built-in US Remote ID only on aircraft firmware v01.00.0797 or later, and at 907 g must be registered with the FAA however you fly it. DJI documents no account lock for it, so ask for the controller it's linked to, ask which firmware it's on, and ask for a screenshot of GO 4's battery warning history, side photos of the packs and how they were stored, since DJI says storing them flat can damage the cells. Skip the $2,999 refurbished Smart Controller bundle at about 4.6 times the median.
