Yuneec showed the Typhoon H Plus at CES in January 2018 as the bigger, quieter successor to the Typhoon H. The frame grew to 520 mm, Yuneec claimed it was 40 percent quieter, and the new C23 camera put a 1-inch, 20 MP sensor on a gimbal that spins a full 360 degrees once the landing gear folds up. That gimbal lets you pan forever without turning the drone. Six rotors mean it can keep flying and land on five if a motor quits. Kits with Intel RealSense obstacle avoidance came that summer. It's still a strong camera ship, and Yuneec still sells its spare parts.
About 1.6 km (1 mile) control range in ideal conditions; 2.4 GHz control, 5.8 GHz 720p video
Obstacle sensing
Forward ultrasonic; Intel RealSense module on some kits

Takeoff weight: 2,060 g, register it
Remote IDNeeds a Remote ID module
No Yuneec model appears on the FAA's Remote ID Declaration of Compliance list, so fly it with a Remote ID broadcast module or at a FRIA. At about 2 kg it must be registered with the FAA.
Account lock
Yuneec doesn't document an account lock, and says its drones don't send photos, video or telemetry to outside servers. The drone binds to its ST16S controller, so buy them together.
Controller
The ST16S, an Android ground station with a built-in 7-inch screen; no phone needed. Kits came with one, and the drone is far less useful without it.
App and firmware
Flown from the software on the ST16S. Yuneec still repairs the Typhoon H Plus and lists spares (C23 camera, motors, arms, ESC module) in its shop.
Should come with it
The ST16S controller
Two or more 4S 5250 mAh batteries and the SC4000-4H charger
The C23 camera
The Intel RealSense module, if you want obstacle avoidance
Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing piece should come off the price.
What to check
Yuneec treats propellers, prop mounts and batteries as wear parts on its hexacopters. The ST16S is a tablet underneath, and Yuneec says a full one slows down, so clear old media off it.
01Controller: Check the photos for the ST16S with its 7-inch screen. Without it you'd need to source one before you can fly.
02Camera: Look for the C23 camera in the photos and ask for a short clip. A Typhoon H Plus without its camera is a big missing piece.
03Gimbal spin: Ask the seller to show the gimbal turning a full circle with the landing gear up. It should rotate smoothly with no stutter.
04Six motors: Ask for a video of all six motors spinning up. They should all start and sound even.
05Batteries: Count the batteries and look for swelling in the photos. They should be flat, and LiPo packs left full for months are a risk.
06Propellers and mounts: Look at the props and their quick-release mounts in the photos. They should lock with no play.
07Remote ID: Budget for a broadcast module. Yuneec's drones aren't on the FAA's built-in Remote ID list.
Only one Typhoon H Plus is for sale, a RealSense version with the ST16S controller at $1,206 delivered, so there's no market to read. The photo shows the drone and ST16S with packs and chargers laid out, and the drone binds to its ST16S, so it matters that they come together. No Yuneec model is on the FAA's Remote ID list, so you'd fly it with a broadcast module or at a FRIA, and at about 2 kg it must be registered with the FAA. Yuneec still repairs the H Plus and lists spares such as the C23 camera, motors and arms, but ask how many batteries come with it, for photos showing they aren't swollen, and for a short video of the gimbal leveling at power-on.
