Yuneec · Camera drone · Unveiled January 2016; RealSense version from mid-2016
Yuneec Typhoon H and H Pro
Yuneec unveiled the Typhoon H at CES in January 2016, and it brought a six-rotor camera drone to enthusiasts. Six rotors on folding carbon arms, landing gear that lifts out of the shot, and a CGO3+ 4K camera on a gimbal that pans a full circle, all flown from the ST16 controller with its own 7-inch screen. If a motor failed it could still land. That summer Yuneec added a version with a factory-fitted Intel RealSense camera that mapped its surroundings and flew around obstacles, sold with a Wizard wand and two batteries. Yuneec's shop calls it the Typhoon H Pro RS. The Typhoon H Plus replaced both in 2018 with a 1-inch camera.

The rules, the lock and what it pairs with
Remote IDNeeds a Remote ID module
No Yuneec model is on the FAA's Remote ID Declaration of Compliance list, so fly it with a broadcast module or at a FRIA. It's a full-size hexacopter, well over 250 g, so it must be registered with the FAA.
Account lock
Yuneec doesn't document an account lock. The drone binds to its ST16 controller, so buy them together.
Controller
The ST16 ground station with a built-in 7-inch Android screen. The RealSense kit added a Wizard wand for two-pilot Team Mode; an ST12 or Wizard can also bind for Team Mode.
App and firmware
Flown from the ST16's built-in software. Yuneec still repairs the Typhoon H and lists spares (arms with motors, ESC module, GPS, ST16) in its shop; in the US it's a legacy product with paid third-party support.

Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing piece should come off the price.
What to check
Yuneec treats propellers, prop mounts and batteries as wear parts on its hexacopters, and it still sells a Typhoon H ESC module and arms with motors as spares. The 2016 batteries are now old, so check them first.
01Which version: Look under the nose in the photos for the Intel RealSense camera module. A Pro has it and a plain Typhoon H relies on ultrasonic sensors.
02Controller: Check the photos for the ST16 controller. The drone won't fly without its ground station.
03Camera: Ask for a short clip with the gimbal panning. The CGO3+ should turn smoothly all the way round.
04Six motors: Ask for a video of all six motors spinning up. They should start together and sound even.
05Landing gear: Ask the seller to show the gear retracting and lowering. It should move both ways without sticking.
06Batteries: Count the batteries and look for swelling in the photos. Packs from 2016 often hold far less charge.
07Remote ID: Plan on a broadcast module. It isn't on the FAA's built-in list.
We'd buy the Typhoon H Pro kit with Intel RealSense, the ST16 controller and Skyview goggles at $1,105 delivered, about what plain ST16 kits here ask ($866 to $1,225). There are at least 24 for sale and most ask $750–1,125 delivered, with shipping on these big hexacopters often adding $90 or more, so compare delivered prices. No Yuneec model is on the FAA's Remote ID list, so you'd fly with a broadcast module or at a FRIA, and a full-size hexacopter like this must be registered with the FAA. The drone binds to its ST16, so buy them together, and since the original batteries are now old and few titles count them, ask how many come with it, for photos showing they aren't swollen, and for a short video of the CGO3+ gimbal leveling at power-on. Skip the zero-feedback ask at $1,800, about twice the median, and the no-battery listings unless you already have packs.
