The X2 was Skydio's first drone built for work. It took the Skydio 2's six-camera autonomy, put it in a folding carbon frame, and added a FLIR Boson thermal camera and up to 35 minutes of flight. Skydio sold two versions: the X2D for defense and federal agencies, and the X2E for businesses, first responders and civilian agencies. The US Army fielded the X2D as the RQ-28A for its Short Range Reconnaissance program. The X2E is the civilian version. It's not weatherproof, and its thermal camera is 320 x 256, half the resolution of the X10's.

Remote IDBuilt-in Remote ID
The X2E is on the FAA's Remote ID Declaration of Compliance list (X2E SDR21V1 and SDR21V2); units built before September 16, 2022 need Skydio's software update and label. The X2D defense version doesn't broadcast Remote ID, so a civilian would need a broadcast module. At 1,325 g it must be registered with the FAA.
Account lock
The X2E is a Skydio Cloud drone. Skydio's manual says your Skydio Enterprise account must be set up in Skydio Cloud, and Skydio won't let you claim a drone still tied to another organization. The Enterprise Controller is activated with an email code and can carry a password that Skydio says can't be recovered, so a lost password means a replacement controller.
Controller
The Skydio Enterprise Controller, a handset with a built-in screen, a Snapdragon 855 and 256 GB of storage. It pairs to one drone at a time over USB-C. Make sure it's in the box and that the seller has removed any password.
App and firmware
Skydio Enterprise, running on the Enterprise Controller. Updates download to the controller and install on the controller first, then the drone. Skydio still publishes X2 support articles.

What to check
Skydio rates an X2 battery at one year or 200 cycles, and its magnetic mounts can pick up metal debris, so inspect the pins and magnets. The X2 isn't weatherproof and shouldn't have been flown in rain or fog.
01X2E or X2D: Ask which version it is and check the label. An X2E broadcasts Remote ID and an X2D doesn't.
02Cloud release: Ask the seller to confirm Skydio has removed the drone from their Skydio Cloud organization. You should be able to claim it yourself.
03Controller password: Ask whether a controller password was ever set and have it removed before shipping. Skydio can't recover a lost one.
04Battery age: Ask for each battery's age and cycle count. Skydio rates them at one year or 200 cycles.
05Battery pins: Look at the battery magnets and connector pins in the photos. They should be clean and undamaged.
06Thermal camera: Ask for a short thermal clip from the controller screen. A warm hand or a mug should show clearly.
07Weather damage: Ask whether it was ever flown in rain. Skydio says not to, so a yes is a reason to walk away.
Only four Skydio X2s are for sale, so the $8,750–10,725 band isn't a market read, and three of them are the X2D defense version. The X2D doesn't broadcast Remote ID, so a civilian would need a broadcast module, and at 1,325 g any X2 must be registered with the FAA. The X2E is on the FAA's Remote ID list, but the only one here is new dealer stock at $14,320 delivered with no returns. If you still want an X2D, the lowest ask is $7,995 with free shipping, titled mint and tested. Before you pay, make sure the Enterprise Controller is in the box with its password removed, since Skydio says a lost one can't be recovered, and that the seller's organization has released the drone in Skydio Cloud, because Skydio won't let you claim one still tied to another organization.
